    New Magnificent owner

    Hey guys...first time post.
I just picked up my Magnificents this weekend and they are now sitting and waiting in the garage for warmer days. I noticed that my diaphrams are different models, so I thought...what the heck, let's just start with a new pair. I'm a little surprised at the available choices! Where did all these model numbers come from? Which ones do I get for 802Ds. There's a butt ton of options and I want NOS phrams in these babies. Can someone help a newbie out? Thanks in advance.

Pics of Magnificents are hard to come by. Here is one just before loading into the truck.

    Beautiful!

There will be only one "correct" diaphragm replacement for your 802D's, probably the 16 ohm 34852. But, if by some chance these are late A7-500W-II's, they may require the 8 ohm version 34647.

Check with Bill or Steve before you place your order at GPA to be sure.

...In which case you'd be looking for some 20275s*... good luck with that...

    *Altec's '75 driver reference lists 3 Magnificent iterations with the 802D, all of which reference the 20275 (next-to-last 6 entries below);

I agree with bowtie's suggestion of new GPA diaphragms. Equal or superior to any NOS 20275s you'll find (probably less expensive too), and you won't have to hold your breath near as long...

Well, I've got a 21569 and a 20275 thus my dilema. Does anyone have an "extra" 20275 they can seperate with?

Do you mean 21597, if so, then that would be odd.One would be 8 ohm the other 16 ohm.Can you post the woofer and XO models in the cabs.

:welcome: to the board, nice looking speakers! The (Cabs) look to be in real nice shape.

    21569 isn't unlikely, a 16 ohm Symbiotik,

    Re: New Magnificent owner

It's definately a 21569 with the orange surround. The Xovers are N500g and the woofs are 416Z. The unfortunate thing is that they came with only one 416, BUT I have a fresh pair of 416As that will be dropped into the cabs.

The cabs are in good shape considering their life was spent in a bar. I expected a lot worse when I arrived to pick them up. The first thing I thought of when I saw them was they are a lifetime speaker due to their size. Let the marriage begin!

Yup ! Bfish is Spot-On ! And you will definitely want to replace that one, I would replace with new GPA diaphragms and keep the 20275 as the first spare, that is an original for that driver.Symbiotiks are more for higher power handling, but just sound off to my ears,I don't like them as much as the all Aluminum.

    Re: New Magnificent owner

Here are a few more pics of the cabs. They're not perfect, but not bad either. A little sanding and polish on them and they will be like new.

I called GPA and left a message. One can assume they aren't working due to their weather. Do they sell a standard diaphragm or do they have choices? By the looks of their website they do. I dunno.

Sorry for the pics... phone cams blow.
